Meet Coach Carol “Charlie” Buxton.
Carol “Charlie” Buxton is an LPGA Teaching Division Class “A” Member, specializing in Coaching. She taught for five years at Every Body Golf School in Fairfax, VA, and coached Chantilly HS Varsity and Girls Golf teams. Charlie was also a Rules Official for the Virginia State Golf Association. For more than 6 years, Charlie has been the 1st Assistant Golf Professional at Monarch Country Club in Palm City, FL, and also the Director of Instruction.
Charlie played golf as a child and teen, and then again after her children were finishing high school. She has won several club championships, and competed at the State level.
She holds an M.A. degree in East Asian Languages and Cultures (Chinese), conducting business with China for 4 years, speaking fluent Chinese. She has taught golf professionals in China. Her professional business experience includes project development and team leadership in information systems development and network support. In addition to completing the LPGA Coaching Certification program, resulting in her Class “A” LPGA membership, Charlie has also studied Bioswing Dynamics with Mike Adams and E.A. Tischler, AIMPOINT with Sweeney, Certified Coaching with Dr. Rick Jensen and Henry Brunton, “Coaching 54” with Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott, and the LPGA Player Development program. Her specialties are short game instruction, mental management, and teaching simply (as in, “Golf as a game is hard enough, without overcomplicating the teaching of it”).
Charlie has been married for over 36 years, is the proud mother of 2 sons serving in the United States Marine Corps, and has two granddaughters. Congratulations and thank you to her sons for Serving our Great Country in the Military. Charlie is a great teacher, person, and I am sure a great MOM. We thank her for her contributions.
